How to give someone access to view/control your desktop using Teamviewer

  1. Run Teamviewer from Start > Program Files
  2. If Teamviewer is not installed download and install it from (http://www.teamviewer.com/download/TeamViewer_Setup.exe if you are on Windows or http://www.teamviewer.com/download/TeamViewer.dmg if you are on Mac
  3. Once Teamviewer has opened up, get your ID and Password as displayed on the screen and give it to the party that wants to establish the connection
  4. The other party has to run Teamviewer from Start > Program Files or follow the instruction no 2 if Teamviewer is not installed. After Teamviewer has opened up, tell them to enter your ID in Create Session section, then select Remote Support and click on Connect to Partner.
  5. Teamviewer will connect to you now and will prompt them for your password. They have to enter the same password as you provided. After successful authentication the other party will be able to view your desktop.
  6. If you need to give them control of your desktop (i.e. move the mouse, type etc) you need to click on Allow Remote Control.

How to remote control someone elses desktop

  1. Ask the other person to download and run Teamviewer (http://www.neosys.com/help/). After they run it, Teamviewer will display their ID and Password on their screen. You need to get the ID and Password
  2. Run the Teamviewer Support Utility from (http://www.teamviewer.com/download/TeamViewer_Setup.exe for Windows or http://www.teamviewer.com/download/TeamViewer.dmg for Mac) and enter the provided ID in the Create Session section, select Remote Support and click on Connect to Partner. Teamviewer establishes a connection and prompts for the password which has to be entered at this stage. After successful authentication you will be able to view the desktop of the other person.
  3. If you need to control their desktop you need to tell the other person to click on Allow Remote Control.

How to change your Teamviewer ID and/or overcome the "Commercial Use suspected" message

  1. First Close Teamviewer, if it is running.
  2. Click on Start –> Run –> type %appdata% –> delete Teamviewer folder
  3. Delete registry folder: hkcu/software/teamviewer and hklm/software/teamviewer
  4. Restart your Teamviewer and you should get a new ID and also should solve the “Commercial Use Suspected” problem.
